Keep Yourself Slim

We went to the real weight loss experts -- folks who've been there, done that to get their tips for taking it off and keeping it off. We wanted to know what really worked for folks who'd not only lost big kgs (more than 12), but who'd kept it off for more than a year.

Not surprisingly, they changed their eating habits and increased their activity levels. But haven't we all tried that? Why did it work for them and not others? What follows are their inspirational, sensible, tough -- yet doable -- tips. We suggest printing out each page and hanging them on your fridge, desk or other prominent place. next Get moving

The tough part with exercise, of course, is getting out there and doing it. Here's how the successful get going:

1. Prioritize
The beds might not get made, but Reema, 36, still makes time for exercise. That's how she's kept off more than 32 kgs for 13 years. "I have to schedule it in and let go of other things -- like a perfectly clean house," she says.

2. Find a passion
"I have a dance background and when I found Aerobics, I said, 'Thank God.' If somebody told me I had to go out and run five days a week, I'd still weigh 74 kgs," says Madhu, 41, who lost 22 kgs and has kept it off for 13 years.

3. Keep an exercise log
It makes you more accountable.Tina from Delhi, who hangs hers on the refrigerator, checks off six workouts a week dutifully. "If I miss one day, I make that my day off for the week."

4. Set a goal
"Try to improve your times.Earlier when i started, i used to be exhausted in 5 minutes doing Aerobics. But gradually, i could do 20 minutes and was getting fitter and losing more weight" says Neeta 34, who lost 22 kgs and now easily does a 45 minutes hectic Aerobics non-stop."

5. Get pumped
"It wasn't until I put on more muscle through resistance training that I was able to keep the weight off -- almost effortlessly," says Madhumati, 37, who went from a size 18 to an 8. The reason? Muscle burns more calories around the clock.

6. Make changes you can live with
"Before I'd go to bed I'd ask myself, 'Is what I did today something I could do for the rest of my life?' If I felt deprived, I'd do it differently tomorrow. If I thought, 'Yeah, I could do this tomorrow,' then I was on the right track.

7. Quiz yourself
Determine if you're really hungry or eating for other reasons. "I'll ask myself 'Do you really want this, or is it something else, like boredom or depression?' About 80% of the time it's not hungry.

8. Get spiritual
If religion isn't for you, try yoga, meditation, or relaxation exercises. These are especially helpful if you tend to eat when you're stressed.

9. "You can do it"
Repeat this to yourself. Many people post affirmations around their homes or offices as constant reminders. One dieter even programmed her computer screen to keep her on the right track.

10. Enlist professional help
Many of the people we talked to used dietitians, personal trainers, and even psychologists to help them deal with problems that were hindering their efforts. If you feel like you can't do it on your own, seek help.

It is the dream of every woman to have a beautiful, fresh and youthful skin. The first step in looking younger begins with what you decide to put into your mouth. Your diet and lifestyle plays a major part in deciding the beauty of your skin. Most people think of a diet as being appropriate only for getting a beautiful figure, however eating the right kind of foods and following a proper diet will put you on the fast track to a healthy body and healthy and glowing skin. The secret to a beautiful, healthy and glowing skin is FRUITS. Include plenty of fruits in your diet and you will see the difference within a week. Fruit is essential for both inner and outer beauty since it enhances the beauty of your skin and hair.

What makes fruit so wonderful is that it is rich in skin and hair enhancing vitamins, acids, and enzymes. Fruit can be used in just about every beauty product to cleanse, freshen, tone, and condition our bodies.

Find out the characteristics of the following fruits and what wonders they can do to your skin:

Apples:

Apples can used as great conditioner and toner. They have been used for centuries for their skin-healing powers. Add a cup of apple juice to your bath to cleanse and soften your skin. The juice of apple can be used as breathe freshener. Apple juice when applied to your hair scalp can prevent dandruff. Use as a final rinse after shampooing your hair.

Lemons:
A classic home beauty ingredient, lemons are used to cleanse and freshen the skin and hair. Use lemon slices to soften rough skin spots such as elbows and heels. Lemon slices also help deodorize and mix a few teaspoons of lemon juice in your bath and you will feel fresh the whole day. Lemon juice can be added to your favourite cleanser or shampoo to refresh and tone your scalp. It also helps prevent dandruff.

Strawberry:

Strawberry can be used for conditioning and skin toning treatment. They are rich in salicylic acid an ingredient found in many commercial acne creams and thus are the best treatment for troubled or teenage skin. Mashed banana also makes a wonderful hair conditioner mixed with a teaspoon or two of honey.

Pineapple:
Like papaya pineapples are also good skin softeners, which cleanse and rejuvenate dull and dry skin, especially for classic rough skin spots like knees, elbows, and heels. Use a slice of pineapple as you would a sponge or loofah to scrub your body in the bath or shower.

Sixth Posting : My Experience During Blogging

This is my last posting of my Language and Information Technology Course. I am really happy because I have done all my six postings well although I have face many problems during blogging. One most important thing that I can say about blogging is that blogging really has brought a lot of memorable experience to me.

First of all, I would like to thank my Associate Proffesor Datin Dr. Norizan for helping me a lot when I really in trouble and in need help. Thank You a lot Datin.

Now, I would like to this advantage to tell all of you about blogging. Blogging really helps me to improve my English language because all of our postings must be posted in English. Before I post any of my postings I have to read and collect information regarding the topic that I have to post. By this, I’m reading the articles or information that I have collected. So, this really useful for me to improve my English and it is also useful for my course which is Literature in English as I will learn everything in English in my course.

In the other hand, blogging also useful to me as it can make me improve my writing skill. Before this, in my second posting I have done a topic about Computer assisted Writing. This blogging activity also can be included as one of the activities in Computer-assisted writing because I’m applying the same method that I have been earlier told in my second posting which is writing. In this blogging activity, I write or type all of my postings in the Word Processor first before I copy and paste it in my blog to be posted. By this, I’m improving my writing skills.

In addition, blogging is also one of the useful learning experience for me. I’m saying this because I have learn many things that I really don’t know before this. I always access in the internet for information regarding the topics that I have to posted and by this I’m learning and gaining information and knowledge about many things. Blogging is really useful for me and I enjoy blogging because I really have a new experience when blogging. It’s really effective and practical for me.

Even though, blogging is really enjoyable and useful for me, but I really face many problems and difficulties during blogging. Sometimes even I have think for dropping this course when I can’t able to find the relevant information regarding the topic that I have to posted or if I might not able to finish my postings at time. I really face a big problem when I doing my third posting which is about “The Impact of Using ICT in Education” because I need to find information regarding this topic in the e-journal from PTSL (Perpustakaan Tun Seri Lanang). All the information I collect for this topic is not the one that I need and its all irrelevant information. This makes me face difficulties and problem for posting my 3rd posting. Another problem that I face is as I did not have my own notebook with me, I have to go to cyber café’s to find information and I spend most of my time in the cyber café posting my post. Sometimes I have borrowed my friend’s notebook if I can’t finish my blogging activities at time. I even tend to awake the whole night doing my blogging activity. These are the difficulties that I have face during blogging and it really brings a memorable experience to me.

Although I have face many problems and difficulties during blogging, but I still will recommend my other friends who are not taking this course, and my family members for blogging as it will be really useful for everyone to improve their writing skill, English language, vocabulary and grammar. I hope that blogging will not be a memorable experience only to me but it will also be a memorable experience for everyone who is blogging.

After this SKBP course which is Language for Information Technology course, I’m sure that I will still blogging. I will always post any new information regarding anything such as entertainment, jokes, advertisements or any news for anyone to view my blog and give their comments regarding my blog or posting. Not only after this course, but now also I’m having my own website from www.freewebs.com and I have posted many things in my own website. Anyone who wants to view my blog can view it trough www.freewebs.com/sweetyzone.
Thank You !!!

10 Easy Steps For Getting Rid Of Split Ends

A spilt end is a common condition, which proves to be the devil of every girl's life! Split ends are most often seen in long hair but also found in shorter hair if not cared properly. It is certainly a curse for anyone trying to grow his or her hair long.

Split ends (or trichoptlosis) are the bane of every self-respecting woman's life. During the seventies women used to burn off the split ends. This need not be done now.

Why Does The Hair Split?

· When the protective cuticle has been stripped away from the ends of hair fibres. Once the hair's cuticle wears down split ends are unavoidable. All you can do is trim them and vow to treat your hair better henceforth. Typically, the hair splits into two or three strands, and can be around two to three centimetres in length. The best treatment is to cut off the split end of the damaged fibre.

· They are more likely to develop in dry or brittle hair, and typical causes of damage include excessive chemically or vigorous brushing.

· Split ends are formed on growing hair because the inside of the hair, also known as the cortex, splits at the ends, thereby getting the name "split ends". Reasons for this fraying are because of intense heat that is caused from curling irons, blow dryers, and such or because the hair is overstretched or damaged and hard combing or brushing that splits the ends.

· Split ends happen when the hair is exposed to extreme temperatures, not enough oil and lack of nourishment.

Another culprit is a hairpin that is not smooth at the end, because when you

· try to take it out, it can rip the hair.

Protecting Your Hair From Splits

· Avoid intense heat on hair like when using curling and straightening irons.

· Use a conditioner that protects hair during heat if you can't naturally dry your hair always.

· Throw away hairpins with sharp ends and use one with rounded corners.

· Drink lots of water as water has minerals that are good for hair.

When hair becomes dry or damaged, the hair shaft splits at the end. Here's how you can keep those unsightly splits from spoiling the looks of your locks.

Instructions

STEP 1: Keep brushing to a minimum since it promotes breakage. Brushing wet hair is a definite no-no; use a wide-toothed comb when hair is wet.

STEP 2: Strive for low-maintenance hair. Hair dryers, curling irons, perm and hair colours all damage hair. If you must blow-dry, use a cool setting and keep the dryer 6 inches (15 cm) from your hair.

STEP 3: Protect your hair from extreme weather. Wear a hat on sunny days and keep hair well moisturised in the dry winter months.

STEP 4: Apply a leave-in conditioner or pomade to the ends of your hair daily to keep it strong.

STEP 5: Snip away any split ends you spot. Cut at least 1 inch (2.5 cm) above the split. A split end will split the hair all the way up to the scalp, so snip it as soon as you spot it.

STEP 6: Schedule a trim with your hairstylist if you start seeing a lot of split ends.

STEP 7: Take small sections of hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion.

STEP 8: Any split ends will automatically stick out.

STEP 9: Carefully snip into the twist with sharp scissors. Don't cut right through; just cut into the thickness to remove the damaged cuticles and give a natural layered effect.

STEP 10: Be careful to cut roughly the same amount from each twist
